Digipak Planing

Image
Digipak Planing  As apart of our coursework we are required to create a digipak. Our genre is indie rock, so wanted our digipak to follow the conventions while also linking with our music video. We will do this by taking some of the symbols we used in our music video and incorporating in the digipak. Such as roses, fire and broken hearts. This follows the theme of a break up which the album will be centred around, as roses have connotations of romance but they will be burning to signify a loss of love. While the front will have roses growing out of the lead singers head to represent growth and change. As texts are polysemic, it can also be interpreted that he is thinking about romance and love. The inside of the digipak will feature the other two band members, one will be crying blood/or have their eyes blacked. While the other band member will be holding his heart in his hands, showing how he is vulnerable, emphasizing the breakup theme to the album. The colou...

Video Diary

Video Diary Throughout filming we decided just to take some quick clips recorded on a mobile phone to add some behind the scenes action and to update our progress.

Editing Techniques used in my music video

Image
Editing A lot of time has been dedicated to editing my music video, in order to showcase a range of editing techniques. Firstly, within my music video i used a title above a pull focus as to introduce my band and the song. It the fades into a glitch transitioning into the actual video. Throughout my video i used overlays on the performances to create a flicker effect that looks like an old camera. This makes the basic performance footage look more interesting and separate it from the narrative.  I also, used a video tape over lay on the scene when they are on the roundabout, speeding up the footage to make it look as if the audience is looking back on an old memory. As well as this i use glitch overlays as both transitions and to distort the scenes, to show that something is distorted between the two characters. In the first verse of the performance i did a graphic match zooming into the lead singers mouth, with the next shot zooming out of another band member. This create...

Narrative Plan 2

Image
Narrative Plan 2 We will be cross cutting between performance and narrative. We decided that we are going to shoot performance first as it will require the most organisation. This will be the final day of shooting unless we need to re-shoot. We plan to take different shots of the couple being happy with one another and fighting. This will show the highs and lows of the relationship and creates an ambiguity to the narrative as it is not clear why they split. This was influenced by the polysemic nature of the song lyrics. We plan to shoot on Sunday the 9th of December as the weather is all clear as we wish to shoot in outside locations. We will shoot mid-afternoon as this will be the best time for lighting in December, just before the sun goes down.  List of people involved: Luke Whittaker-  Acting. Maddie Patrick- Acting. Sarah Tennant-  Camera and lights.  Hollie Wistow-  Camera and lights.  Props:  Old Fashioned Camera- To...

Narrative plan 1

Narrative plan 1 We will be cross cutting between performance and narrative. We decided that we are going to shoot performance first as it will require the most organisation. For this day we will be shooting shots of the protagonist running and burning old photographs of his ex. This will be used to show how the he feels trapped, trying to run away from his problems. As well as, burning the photos which could have a few interpretations such as him getting over the girl or him trying to erase her. We plan to shoot on Sunday the 19th of November, it will be outside so we have checked the weather forecast and it is all clear and even sunny, this will be good as we will shoot throughout the day into the evening time.  List of people involved: Luke Whittaker- Acting. We chose to have him as our main actor because in the test shots he performed in the way that we wanted him to and had the effort we required for our actual piece. Sarah Tennant- Camera and lights.  ...
