Digipak Planing 

As apart of our coursework we are required to create a digipak. Our genre is indie rock, so wanted our digipak to follow the conventions while also linking with our music video. We will do this by taking some of the symbols we used in our music video and incorporating in the digipak. Such as roses, fire and broken hearts. This follows the theme of a break up which the album will be centred around, as roses have connotations of romance but they will be burning to signify a loss of love. While the front will have roses growing out of the lead singers head to represent growth and change. As texts are polysemic, it can also be interpreted that he is thinking about romance and love.

The inside of the digipak will feature the other two band members, one will be crying blood/or have their eyes blacked. While the other band member will be holding his heart in his hands, showing how he is vulnerable, emphasizing the breakup theme to the album.



The colour we will use will coincide with the colours used in the music video. Each band member had a close up of their mouths with a coloured light over head, i will use the colours as the backgrounds for the panels. For example, the female guitarist had a yellow close up so will have a yellow background. This shows consistency throughout my pieces. The bright colours on the inside will contrast with the genre, while the outside will be dark and follow the conventions.

EVALUATION QUESTION 3 "what have you learned from your audience feedback?"  The third evaluation question asks what i have learned from my audience feedback, so in response i record three peoples reactions to my music video, followed by questions to evaluate it and my ancillary products. As well as this, i conducted an in-class focus group from fellow media students on how to improve my music video during the final stages of the editing process. The sample that used worked well as the majority of them fell in my target audience demographic.  From the feedback, it was clear that my products have been successful in creating a recognizable band identity that is established between all three of my final products. Music Video Analysis Additional Analysis:  You Me At Six- Lived a lie:  This music video is from indie rock band "You Me At Six", i have chosen to look more into this genre as it is the one i intend to use for my own music videos. Therefor, analyzing this will allow me too see the typical codes and conventions of the genre. Camera:  The video opening focuses on the lead vocalist as seen through a medium shot, which empathizes Goodwin notion of "Star Power" as he is the front man for the band and thus the one that audiences are more likely to recognize. The camera then quickly moves to a range of shots, with many extreme close ups on the lead singers face such as his eyes. It makes the video feel quite intimate to watch, as the singer seems to be vulnerable. Within the shots he looks sad or in pain.
