Album Poster analysis

Image
Album Poster analysis Album posters are ways that artists can promote both their new music but also create a brand identity. This advertising will make audiences wish to purchase the new album and provides them will all the relevant information to do so such as; the album name, the artist and its release date.  Panic at the Disco! There is very little difference between the album and the album poster, creating a continuity throughout the bands promotion of the album. The poster follows the conventions as it has "Available now" and the name of the album it is advertising, in this case it is "Too Weird To Live, To Rare To Die". The poster is in black and white other than the color of the rainbow smoke and the yellow of the release date. This makes it stand out so that an audience can easily recognize it and thus know when to but the product.  The black and white contradicts with the other colorful album posters they have had previously, this could suggest t...

Digipak Research  What is a Digipak?  A Digipak is a type of disk packaging that music artists use to promote their latest album of E.P. Most Digipaks have a theme or motif usually linking to the genre of the music. A Digipak differs from a normal CD case as it folds out and is able to contain more images. Hip Hop-  Kanye West "graduation" Front: On the front of the Digipak there is an illustration of a teddy bear being blasted out of a cannon. The image could be a symbol of how after full time education you after "Graduation" are forced into the real world, out of a safe security. This appeals to his target audience of teenagers and young adults who can empathize with that struggle.  The title and artist name are on the front of box a convention so that the audience can regonise the artist or music to make the decestion to purchase it.  The cartoonist and colorful style that is shown on the front and runs throughout the digipak juxtaposes ...

Narrative Theory

Narrative Theory  Todrov's theory of equilibrium:  The narrative starts with an equilibrium- Everything is at peace. An action or character disrupts the equilibrium-  There is no longer any peace.  A quest to restore equilibrium begins. The narrative continues to a climax.  Resolution occurs and equilibrium is restored. - The world is now at peace.  Unconventional Narratives:  Non-linear and circular narratives are not so straight forward.  Propp's character Theory:   Propp argues that in all narratives there are seven types of characters which are, these are not always literal:  The Hero - The protagonist with good intentions.  The villain -  The antagonist that struggles against the hero. The Doner/Enabler- That prepares the hero or provides them with a metaphorical magical object.  The helper - Helps the hero in the quest. The princess - Often sought for or in need of rescue during...
