EVALUATION QUESTION 3

EVALUATION QUESTION 3

"what have you learned from your audience feedback?"

The third evaluation question asks what i have learned from my audience feedback, so in response i record three peoples reactions to my music video, followed by questions to evaluate it and my ancillary products. As well as this, i conducted an in-class focus group from fellow media students on how to improve my music video during the final stages of the editing process. The sample that used worked well as the majority of them fell in my target audience demographic.

From the feedback, it was clear that my products have been successful in creating a recognizable band identity that is established between all three of my final products. As well as, those who watched the video and looked at my products were successfully able to deduce that it was a product of the indie rock.

However, it was found that there is some room for improvement that was suggested by my audience feed back. Such as the use of less close-ups, which i would fill in with differing band shots. This would have created more variety that the audience seemed to crave. As well as this, many suggested that i could have been more adventurous with the location. I agree, if i was to re-shoot, i would have had a bigger location for the performance element so i could take some extra long shots of the band. As well as for the performance, it was suggested that i had larger fires.

Those of the sample that fell into my audience demographic especially felt that the music video and ancillary products appealed to them. Which pleased me too see that i had created something that indie rock fans would appreciate. I was also glad that they liked the style of my ancillary products as i wanted to create something unique and individual to the band.

During the final editing stage of my music video there was a class focus group which allowed other creators to look at my product and suggest areas for improvement. At that time they suggested that i needed another location of performance, which i implemented towards the end of the video when he is shown singing against a brick background. Other then that the feedback was positive, they liked my editing and the style of the video which i simply added to after the feedback.
